by Andrew's request:
Written last night.
Today was weird.
I was at home thinking I wish Andrew could come home and give me a break.
About that time I hear on the phone (he called me) I asked him where he was he said I am cooling off.
He didn't tell me he was headed to Target to buy us a decent peeler.
about 2 hours goes by and I don't hear anything. He calls me acting like he is headed out of work only sans the warehouse noise.
Later he told the truth and it could be either super freaky or a way Cool God thing.
He said that he was in Target cruising the store's clearance aisles. He was totally minding his own business when a total stranger walks up to him and asks :Do you know anything about Vista( it's a windows based operating system: Andrew answers yeah, Why and why did you ask me? The other guy explains that no one has been able to fix his computer and he just prayed for help... God told him to ask Andrew.
He was having some issues with a brand new computer. OK I think I forgot to mention that Andrew has a special gift or fixing some computers. He just loves doing that especially the ones that are semi new and have half a heartbeat.
He goes over to the guys house and learns more about the guy. He's a grandpa and all the kids are adopted because his son and his wife are infertile. He LOVES his grandkids Which are from Russia.
Andrew is a bit freaked out but who wouldn't be. He had a text message saying where he was all typed up. He helped him as best he could with his computer without having his tools with him. He thought ok they're going to find my body out in the lake. (gotta love him his faith is real but not wild although I feel he was obedient)
OK when he got home he had half a watermelon and a cucumber and this amazing story.
We believe in God and not fate. there are NO coincidences, just stuff that happens because God makes it happen that way.
It's not to say that stuff doesn't just happen because of illness or sin but that is a whole other issue. Don't ask me why God does things like allow miscarriages or allow babies/ kids to die. I don't know. Sorry for the trigger. I still struggle with questions like that.
I thought that was a cool prophetic thing like stories I used to hear at church or stuff that would transpire when Crystal P and I would go out anywhere. It was a great mess of healing/ evangelism that would happen. How I totally miss her and wish that we would talk more. I'm sorry for what ever reason we drifted apart.
I would however tell him not to go somewhere like that again without calling somebody and telling them or me. OY
Doesn't he know I would totally believe him?
Anyway Be richly blessed.

Life Questions---
To tell the Truth... Here's a question.
Have you ever done anything out of Haste only to totally regret it somewhere down the road?
I have and honestly I can currently name at least 2 things if not more.
One of them was my Ob/gyn. I had no other choice than to call the first practice I saw off the hospital's website.
I was about 10 weeks pregnant with Daniel when we learned that the Ob/gyn's we had been going to for years no longer delivered where I was wanting to return to deliver this new one. I was shocked... and quite frankly just irritated. I had a dream that told me I was going to be looking for a new doc or "midwife" as the Lord had so kindly put it as HE is the ONLY Great physician.
I knew this guy was not right for me. He was very short with me and didn't give me the time of day. Not particularly what I look for in someone who is looking after me and the health of my unborn baby. He was upset about what we were demanding he do as part of the recommendations our perinatologist gave.
Hey it's not my problem if you like it or not buddy, but you need to know I was not going to sit idly by and wait to go back through the NICU and watch another of my babies nearly not make it. I was going to fight for everything I could.
I spent nearly rest of the pregnancy fighting and after a certain point I got sick of that so I called my perinatologist and told him what was going on and looking back on that now...He was instrumental in saving our sanity.
Did I like some of the docs in the practice. OH Yes, some were downright awesome. But the group as a whole SUCKED when it came to dealing with anything other than safe no risk pregnancies. Their office staff stunk although there were exceptions I can point out.
No, I am NOT pregnant. I have been having some ovarian cysts that have been creating issues for me. Dealing with this should be easy, right... WRONG.
I spend weeks in agony. I also spent weeks on the phone trying to get an appointment to be seen and address this issue. My problem: every time I made an appointment and they saw my name come up on their schedule...I would promptly get a call and be told he wasn't going to see me. ARE you KIDDING me? Who does this.
I was told they couldn't see me without first having an ultrasound. An ultrasound only they could order. The only thing was they only offered it AFTER about 20 minutes of emotional battering, and by that time I had enough and hung up. I had Andrew call them back and he managed to get me an appointment with an ultrasound.
Knowing their history of how well or not well we have been treated there... I get to the point I cannot take it any more the week end before. We trip on down to the Urgent Care in Fort Mill. See a really fantastic doc and tell him my thing. He finds there is blood in my pee and the only thing is that I don't have a urinary tract infection or a kidney infection. I tell him this started in the middle of the cycle. a funny thing to note was that cycle I bled a small amount the entire month probably because of the month before.
He gives me some low level non narcotic stuff. It worked kind of. He put a note in that I may be in the market for a new OB/GYN... We went on our way.
I hate Doctors and drugs
If you really know me... I really don't like going to the doctors that much. In general I don't even like taking as much as a tylenol. I believe in taking care of myself as a part of being a mom to two healthy active little boys.
My Boys HAVE been to the pediatrician, the eye doctor and the dentist. I make sure that they have the best chance given Jonathan's history.
Andrew gets really upset at me for not speaking up when I am in pain or need something. Case in point right after my c-section with Daniel I was in the hospital recovering and I decided I needed to go to sleep. I had to use the potty and after could not move I was in so much pain. I spent the next two hours screaming in pain and eventually crawled back to the bed and got into bed. I promptly called for some pain meds but got no answer. Andrew was at home with Jonathan as we didn't have anyone to watch him. I called Andrew and told him and he was pretty ill with me and un-compassionate just in general. I kept calling but got no answer but could hear everyone laughing and talking about the patients as my door was not able to shut and stay closed. I decided to suck it up and just deal. I was bleeding from my c-section incision and the blood thinners they had me on after they discovered it was bleeding were creating me more problems than it was worth.
My doctor rounded at 5 am (which was insane). Didn't talk to me about anything. Just checked the wound and left. He didn't know Daniel had been moved from the Nicu to where I was , only I decided it was a great thing to be able to get some decent rest. Home was waiting ON me and I wasn't looking forward to it too well.
Jonathan was great only he was having his own issues in combination with the change going on in the family. He had been really in a upset place and became destructo-boy when he is tired and needs a nap)
Anyways
With this pain-which rivals the pain I had after my first miscarriage and d&e back in 2005; I decided after not being able to sleep at night that I needed to get this fixed NOW. I told Andrew, He got the kids packed up and put in the car and off we went to the Emergency room. I was taken care of great and had a very decent exchange I have never been able to have with my real doctor about what was going on. Got the Ultrasound done.. My ovaries were nicely healing and had little to no sign of anything as it was 2 weeks after the fact. they quickly ruled out kidney stones when they learned of its coming oh lets say 14 days before a certain monthly occurence.
I went home with some pain pills and took a decent nap. I got up and went to the doctor. I got there and he did Jack for me. He didn't check a nything he just said this is what we're doing and that was nothing by the way. didn't ask me anything so I was ticked at this point.
I am at a point to where I don't know what to do. do I shop some more for another group or do we just to to our fp for stuff like a pap test and a physical once a year and hope for the best.
This is frustrating knowing full well we want to maybe try to have another child but every baby after Joonathan has to be treated as high risk. My babies lungs don't develop that fast in the womb and need extra intervention at the end of the pregnancy and after birth. It's a rare condition, so rare only a handful of people have had this happen to their child. so we need extra tests since they really don't know what caused this to happen.
NO one seems to want to do anything for us that had a MD after their name. We must have gotten the plague or something. We got a lot of "it must have been a fluke" and "it probably won't happen again" and "just try not to worry". We won't do anything extra.
How can anyone not KNOWING our history come to this conclusion? EASY they assume we're normal... now to the PERI who took care of us who we consulted with pre pregnancy... went and pulled our records from our last OB, the NICU everything before he even talked to us. He was happy that we were asking beforehand. He didn't know WHY but he wanted us to know everything that can be done was done.
Later we would find out that our fear was real and not a fluke event as Daniel had the same thing as Jonathan, although we did some things for Daniel like steroids, and amnio's that proved to be life altering because it dramatically shortened our time in the nicu and the severity of our issues. Instead of a 55 day nicu stay and many weeks treading on the ECMO list, we spent 30 hours in the nicu under observation, because they were just as scared as we were about a repeat event.
So lets just say it was God and my perinatologist that helped Daniel and not my OB...(whom I only saw 3 times the entire pg.) hmmm maybe I can call my peri and get a referral... OH maybe. he knows just about everyone in the 3 county area..
hope you enjoy your families and time together with family and friends.

Daniel's 1 year Resume
He is a year old...
This boy is : 26 pounds 8 oz.(94th percentile) (after wrestling him on the scale)
He is: 31 1/2 inches long (95th)
His head is 48...
His lungs are great and his ears are too...
He is right on track with his development and is NOT overweight. (he is on a great growth curve)
He is on table food... LOVES the veggies. will try anything once. will chase brother and tackle for food.(seriously)
He has figured out how to use objects to stand up with and move around the room with.
Though he hasn't stepped out, he is letting go for longer lengths of time.
It shouldn't be long now before he walks.
He got 3 shots and we were off towards home.
I got great advice on Potty Training from the pediatrician as well as being handed a John Rosemond article... Totally chuckling because reading his articles seems to do a lot for me. His naps article changed Jonathan's behavior outbursts.
He is not quite ready. we will wait till he tells us he is ready.
As soon as I walked through the door with Daniel; Jonathan is standing in a growing puddle. Somehow something got out of his diaper... I told him he was okay and we would clean him and this mess up. He looked at me like I did this :(... we have to teach him that is okay if that happens and we love him. I got a towel and a fresh diaper and he helped clean the pee off of the floor. he was grateful and just went on playing.
So we are getting closer...just not all the way.
I love these guys.
Be blessed

A note about Sunday
Okay what I'd like to note about Sunday...
OK Saturday I got on my Facebook page and saw that there was an event going on at a church a LOT of my friends went to after leavingfleeing MorningStar 2 years ago. We even told a friend "That's where everyone went".
I have spoken to but have not quite made the connection to a lot of them ALTHOUGH we did a time or two with Jim and Crystal...It's been a bit harder simply due to the fact that we don't see them from week to week. That and our sometimes too busy of a schedule.
We decided to go visit. We had been wanting to go for several months... Just finding a week and deciding to go. Since we were both still kind of upset about the Art Studio and how Jonathan was mistreated... We decided to take a week off and go there.
The Church's name is Antioch. After asking what time it started and getting 2 of the same answers from the same folks we decided to head out. We are always on the brink of running late and it always drives me up a wall.
We drive up and it honestly was a medium crowd (compared with Forest Hill it was small)
I walk in and I see Crystal O.(Have got to use Last initials because of multiple Crystal's) We say Hello and give her hugs...
I run into a stranger a very nice lady-Had a few really cute kids around her. Had a really cool conversation about their kids ministry..She shook Jonathan's hand---which were sticky from the pb&j he had for breakfast.
Took him in the bathroom, sat him on the counter and proceeded totorture wash his hands. I got his hands dry and somehow we all were ok with that.
We hang out for another couple of minutes and discover Jim playing the drums. I was like didn't remember him ever saying he knew how to do that. I see a ton of other folks we know and sat hello.
I felt like Norm on the tv program Cheers. Kind of scary, kind of great. I was swimming in the great and I was grateful. normally (in the last two years) I am invisible and 6 people have regularly talked to us... so sad. We are although getting in a life group (at least I am) and meeting folks...
Enjoyed worship because yep you guessed it one of my dearest friends was sharing a God given talent of worship.
The pastor called the kids up front and we all prayed for them and Jonathan was up with them Although he was more into playing with the set. He went with the kids who were grouped together and they went off together somewhere...(who knows)
Pastor taught for a while and I felt ok although the theme was different.
Daniel was with some other folks who were taking their turn with the babes and Sarah (who we know) took care of him.
Sermon ended and Andrew went and retrieved Daniel (or Mr. D as we call him).
Worship came back up and all I can say is I was swimming in a River and I just closed my eyes and took it in.
OK after that they had like games and bouncy stuff and kiddie pool and got dogs and such. It was 90 degrees but we all were ok. Andrew and I spent most of our time either trying to keep Jonathan out of the pool (he can't swim yet) or trying to get him doing something more appropriate to his age. Jonathan was a soaking wet happy little kid who's pants kept falling down.
Two things happened that were totally way beyond words to me. Someone saw Jonathan and said this is our miracle baby... I wanted to cry but was too overwhelmed with everything at the moment. This touched me so much.(been crying for two days I think it touched something) If you have been reading this blog you know the battles we've endured. Some of the bloodiest battles being over people who Didn't know us. I hadn't heard anyone say this to me since we left MorningStar.
We spent a while there and it seemed like a lifetime but it was about the same time we usually get out of church that we left (1 pm).
We met some new people and connected with friends. We met the pastor and his wife. Very great folks with loving hearts. Folks I'm pretty sure would be great at a cook-out *the south's version of a bbq or a pot luck*.
The second thing that got me was right as I was walking to the car with Daniel... The pastor came running after to say goodbye. He said that he could see that we were loved by a lot of them.(okay just make me feel like a hundred feet tall but like 3 inches tall at the same time because I had not seen or talked to any of them in like months) He got me with his ketchup from his hot dog...I was like not a big deal wiped it right off. I was thinking Hey not a problem...at least it washes off. My hands are still smurfy blue from the cake from the day before.
We came home and Andrew saw me being sad. He was all about we could totally be there. I was more like right now we can't I am finally getting to know some people and I am finally happy at Forest hill . It was only until last week that we became unhappy but Wisdom tells me that it's never a great idea to leave with bad feelings that never get resolved. (especially one that will eventually get ironed out-or Jonathan will figure out.) It's better to stay and speak up than it would be to have this issue chase us around ;)
He didn't get what happened and I really hope he reads this. I felt really like a horrible friend that many were seeing my life through Facebook instead of seeing me and hanging out IRL (in real life). Facebook is a wonderful tool don't get me wrong but... I try to be more about relationships when ever possible.
That's all on this topic.

Happy First Birthday Daniel
I can't believe you are one today....
It sometimes feels as though it were just yesterday that I was holding you for the first time; At other times it seems like a eternity.
The day you were born, we had everyone praying for your safe arrival into this world. We had learned just days before that your lungs were not ready but we were going to have you make your entrance whether you were ready or not. We had gone 5 days past your due-date and the doctors said they didn't want to risk both of us.
As a measure of faith we got special steroid shots to help mature the lungs but they didn't have any proof to say it would work. I said do it anyway!
We were very scared to think about the difficult road we were possible going to face in the NICU. We made the hard decision that if you spent any time in the NICU that we would not breast feed. It would've been just as difficult as when Jonathan was in the NICU and we didn't want to have that kind of battle.
We had a wonderful support person by the name of Julie Morris. She is a DOULA. We decided it was worth it even if we delivered by c-section. and she totally was worth it because of the value of emotional support (especially at the end).
She even reminded us that God was there with us if we were going to go through the NICU and told us how to prepare ourselves emotionally and even found us a lady who would donate breast milk if that's what we chose.
I woke up at about 4 am that morning and all I could do was pray. My prayers we simple. Please Lord, help Daniel come out and be okay in his lungs. Please Lord make him scream good when he comes out.
As soon as Andrew and Jonathan got up and my mother-in law showed up (late as usual)
Andrew put everything in the car and we headed to the hospital with books we had borrowed from the Doula. Of course Andrew was hungry and I couldn't eat due to the fact I was going to have surgery. he stopped and got himself a biscuit. (which was ok as long as he wasn't eating beef jerky behind my back.
I was not feeling well and later found out I was having low blood pressure.
Julie me us at the hospital as we were supposed to get there early to speak with a member of the neonatology team as to what they were planning.
We talked a lot about our fears and even managed to get unhooked from the stupid monitors(that btw weren't picking him up really great)

We talked to a nurse about our last experience and she made sure Andrew got scrubs instead of the plastic yellow gown we had worn in the nicu with Jonathan. That was not too hard because they wanted great memories of this one.
When I got to the OR I was scared so bad I was freaking out. I needed to know that I was completely numb before they cut me... I HATE surgery on me.
This made everything go slower. That and they had to do a couple of extra things so they could easily get to Daniel.
We also had to wait on the neonatology team.
When everything was ready They got Andrew and brought him in and sat him down at my head. he just looked in my eyes and said "I love you". all I could think was Praise God, after this I won't hurt as bad... Please Lord make him scream.
Daniel had been completely breech since 34 weeks...We would find out shortly why. He was feet first and his head was in my ribs.
Pretty soon they said pressure and out he came... Soon I heard something I had been praying for for like forever. He had come out screaming and even bofore they had a chance to suction him :). His cord was super LONG and wrapped around his neck 3 times which explained why he was breech.
I began crying such happy tears and I thanked God out loud and went back to crying.
Everyone became concerned that I was in pain so they stopped and asked me... I said no I was crying because I am happy although in a slight amount of pain. They said ok and continued.
He continued screaming... I was so happy this is still one of the most awesome moments in my life... I am crying as I write this just remembering. I love you God for that.

Daniel Screaming at birth
Andrew went over and took some pics and spoke his name into his ears and welcomed him into our family. It was his job and he would later tell me something in recovery. He cut the cord... we were totally in shoch as he doesn't do blood, but lets just say we were beyond proud of him.
He came out screaming which was a total miracle and he was breathing fast. The NICU team was there and they were able to bring him over to me so I could touch him and tell him I loved him. They said they were taking him as a precaution and to watch him and I was like ok because I knew the same folks would be taking care of him as they did Jonathan.

Andrew was able to take pics of them putting him in the nicu transport while they finished me up and transferred me to a bed and took me to recovery...

Day 1-New Technique
Potty Training.... I am totally clueless as to who came up with the term.
I was completely clueless as to how to attempt this and who knows if Jonathan gets or understands the concept. Pee goes in the potty.
There are about as many methods of doing this as people with actual experience.
I warn you Google will blow your mind, if not just leave you just plain confounded.
Thank goodness that there are a few good mommies out there with experience that gave me some pointers.
No one told me how absolutely frustrating it would be to watch him play bare bottomed in the house have no result and as soon as I could get the nap diaper on did he nearly pee through his diaper...
Yep, he was holding it for real... After his nap same thing only I was smarter. I was watching him do the potty dance (that no one had to teach him- he came pre equipped) I said if you put your pee in the potty you get a treat... Almost instantaneous he decided okay because he did it. so now we know there is comprehension of this concept only he was testing me.
I'm not one for bribing in general but that how it worked the first time. Andrew is getting some m&m's that he LOVES. After we took food to Andrew at his work, we then went and got a milkshake.
We had previously attempted this without the potty chair only to leave him totally freaked out of the toilet.
This is our first success and hopefully not our last.

I Think I'll
Just take a deep breath here and Decide to not want everyone burned at the stake be flexible and believe that "all things are possible".
No one can make me feel inferior, without my consent.
I hate it when people try to do this.
My pet peeve for the moment is how can anyone follow rules that are unspoken and unsaid. If you expect me to follow a rule LET ME KNOW before I break one. Not communicating what's really happening... when I ask beforehand SPECIFICALLY for input -In writing no less.
Don't act like an expert when you don't really know all the policies... Just point me to the right person who DOES and I'll be happy.
I'm just happy to know that everyone's human. :) and we all make mistakes.
Jonathan will be going to the Two year old room till he can prove he's potty trained and can pay attention and sit still..(He's nearly 3.5 now)Although he'll probably be staying with me. Just leave me in peace.
I just LOVE my kids and want the best for them. My hope for Jonathan is that I don't want him to be treated like he's different and treated like an outcast. He is learning and that's what childhood is all about.
Off now to go do something fun...

Jonathan's Smiles
I love it when Jonathan smiles. OK I love it when he laughs too... but smiles are what makes the world go around. Even when he isn't feeling well, if I can make him smile or laugh we are okay and even on the right track to getting better.

Jonathan being happy
Several weeks ago Jonathan aged out of the 2 year old room at church... Being the total nervous parents aware that he does and might have some challenges in his life; we decided that we were going to try putting him with the three year olds. If it didn't work then put him back with the two year olds and try in another couple of weeks.
We talked to one of the folks in charge of this and she was totally okay with it. We asked about potty training status and she said that the 3's it did not matter. We explained that both his teachers at school and us were working on it because of a language delay.
Somehow, a few weeks later we "accidentally" checked him in to the 3's and to our surprise he did awesome and even liked it. He was plain old wore out but there was a REALLY HAPPY 3 year old by the name of Jonathan riding in our backseat.
Last week, he had paint on his shirt because of the art project they did. It was Bright neon day-glow green. The teacher said hey go check it out. They had been teaching him about the Flood and painted a gigantic rainbow.
Every week he has been there there hasn't been anything said to me about him or his behavior other than he did awesome and he LOVES to dance and sing. I am not going to discourage that because that is part of him that God put there and who am I to interfere with his giftings.
Today was strange. and the disclaimer here is: That I am not bad mouthing anyone, I am stating what happened and how I feel.
Here comes today though. Andrew and I were on the schedule to volunteer in the room where Daniel hangs out (in the crawlers 7-11m) We get there and yes the tag for Jonathan was messed up(and honestly that was the fault of the folks at check in and me- I sent an email to have it changed)honestly easy fix and everyone happy.
I went in to the room we are in and was in the normal mode of let's go drop Jonathan off.(because although we are almost always on time) The 3's teachers are NEVER there when we get there... anyways it's never a big deal we just bring him and his backpack and explain diapers are in the bag... yada, yada etc.
Not but 15 minutes goes by that the male teacher brings Jonathan to me saying he messed his pants and that they had nowhere to change him...Basically he kicked him out for not being potty trained... leaves him there with me... Jonathan was looking SAD.I was sad and infuriated for him. I changed his poopy diaper and went down the hall and put him in a 2 year old room.(I should have taken him back but I had some words for this person.. I figured I didn't need to share)
Okay I was mad and heartbroken. Mad because you made my child not feel normal and like everyone else. Heartbroken because I KNOW how how he tries to talk and have fun with the other kids, and how much he's been enjoying that time.
I will not get upset or feel guilty about the things that he has had to endure in his short life, but I will say this: As his mom I just want him to be as normal a child as he can be, and to be around kids his age that are on track with what he needs to be doing. I do not want him to ever be separated out or anything else for that matter for the stuff he is learning how to do, or struggles to do.
For that matter I don't think he's the only 3 year old there not potty trained. He statistically can't be...so what is the problem.
Now I am going to call one of the leader folks and tell her about this... but Thankfully I am happy to report that it's great having Jonathan smile, and he can bounce back from that but I really don't care to repeat this stuff again for his sake.
For heaven's sake he is a very sweet child and I just want him to be loved and know that he's accepted. That and I LOVE to see him smile.
The Best part of being a mommy is seeing my kids smile and hearing them laugh. That is what I live for. But doesn't every mom?
Be blessed

Going Green... But Not Hugging Trees
You might think ok, Trina has totally lost it now. What's the deal with this.
I took a honest look at WHAT we were throwing away. We were throwing away a LOT of glass jars (baby food), plastic bottles(juice) and plastic (milk jugs), not to mention cereal boxes (which can be recycled).(all of which had a funky triangle on it with a number).
Our city has a blue bin which you can throw this in but everything has to be at least rinsed out and crushed. No not the glass.
We grew up in California and grew up recycling. Crushing cans was FUN!
I decided this two weeks ago and when I told Andrew this... He wanted to see if I totally lost it because green= crazy environmentalists to us...
I said no just check out how much we are tossing...
Since we cannot recycle diapers and I am not going anywhere near the cloth versus Disposable debate, We have enough trash.
I have a bin in my kitchen and it will probably live under my sink. Everything goes together since it doesn't matter in the city bin.( just make sure the glass is all together and the plastic is in one general place.
We are not hippies or environmentalists but all of our recyclables are not headed for the landfill.. :)
Be blessed

Something I saw
on A BLOG made me think...
They were talking about taking their 18 month old son to the pediatrician and filling out the questionnaire for that child's development.
She realized that they were screening for Autism. My heart goes out to them. I know people that have kids with this. I know about the therapy and I know about feeling hopeless.
Then God reminded me that he can do anything. The people we know used a special therapy and now I believe the boy is going to be in the first grade this year. This child was not interacting with anybody...
Prayer can change things and I am not talking about anything religious here. It's simply talking to god and this can be done everywhere like your car, the shower, even while doing the laundry. Now all you religious types who are upset I just said that please just hear me out. Do You think that you have to be in a church or in a closet to pray. or is God in your heart. Does he not know what you want to say to him before you say it. I believe Christianity is more relationship and less about rules. Rules are there to say that we need him to be perfect. We can't always do the rule thing perfectly.
Please pray for these folks... Like I said we stumbled upon them last week...
http://hooverhousehold.blogspot.com/
Although we don't have autism our hearts do go out to them especially when it is the older child and you are concerned about the younger kids because you have been there and done that.
Be blessed and remember somebody does Love you...

One Year ago
One Year ago we were anxiously anticipating Daniel's birth. On July 11th we had our first amniocentesis... Let's just say I couldn't sleep the night before. I had never had a long needle stuck in my belly before.
I thank God I had a doctor doing the amnio that had as much experience as year of my being alive. That morning he KNEW I was scared as all heck... and he seemed to try to make it better. He had to poke me twice because Daniel moved in the way.
I was not very happy later when we received the call that his lungs were nowhere near ready to be born. We had to hold off on our planned delivery for longer and there was no end point in sight. At that point I felt like I had totally failed.
Up until that point we were doing every thing that we could do medically in the hopes that we would try and prevent/lessen the chances that Daniel would not go in the same direction as his brother Jonathan.
Jonathan was born with severe lung immaturity that we didn't/couldn't see coming as he was born via c-section 2 days prior to his due date. He spent 55 days in the NICU and was VERY sick and nearly came to the point where we were told he needed ECMO.
We were not sure if this was a chance event or even why that would ever happen.
Not even our perinatal specialist was aware of why. So we decided to be watched more closely, be tested more often for Gestational Diabetes, have non stress tests or NST's. Be poked more times than necessary. All for Daniel. I got more ultrasounds of him at the end and I cherished the glimpses of him. He has a cute nose...

Daniel ultrasound @34 weeks
Everything had to be proven and I spent the entire pregnancy trying to say hey let's do xyz in the hope that we were doing that all in vain and for not. We were hoping that when we came to the amnio the results would've come back saying that he was fine and that we never had to worry about the lung thing again.
It totally sucks when you get vindicated and get told that we were correct in our worrying about this. Especially when it felt like I was doing ALL of the fighting with all of the docs in that practice. It was FUN though to see them eat crow and totally have to take their feet out of their mouths. Though we were terrified and sad.
Oddly enough the next two weeks were spent with either myself in the bed or on the couch
I was just in too much pain to do much of anything else and I was having contractions.
I could not be in more love with Daniel and I thank God His birthday was Super(future post).
Until next time.

Didn't KNOW
That we were JUST another family living as a Hoover
household. There is another family in Virginia with the same last name. we Are not related by blood... but as Christians we are related by THE BLOOD of Jesus.
Andrew found their blog and was shocked... but I thought it was cool. Didn't know I was living a double-life as church planters. I pray blessings for this family.
Right now I'm feeling a bit peeved and am looking into filing for a restraining order for someone who keeps calling my house and harassing my family.
It isn't a whole lot of people It's just one or two people in my family. Now I'm not going to sit here and bad mouth anyone so get it straight. It's unfortunate they've not respected our requests to leave us in peace. Now I have to go through the time and expense of changing my number, and filing legal paperwork so I can know that I can live in peace.
I didn't get a chance to get in to see my doctor for the pain I've had for a month now. They called and canceled it refusing to see me at all stating that I needed an ultrasound only they could schedule but never bothered to schedule or even offer to.
My first thought was ok I am now afraid of Obama-care because I'd probably never get to see my freaking doctor ever and have to get everything done through the Emergency room.(and I HAVE insurance) God help me if I ever get pregnant again. ;)
After much warfare I got an ultrasound appointment for Tuesday.(after which I will probably leave in protest without seeing anyone and I refuse to pay for this kind of hassle)
Go ahead and brag about your caring professionalism...I could care LESS about the blatant LIE. Fool me once shame on you, FOOL me twice Shame on ME. Shame on YOU Carolinas Medical Center. (Eastover GYN/OB)

Ramblings of a tired mommy
There were a lot of things this last week that could have been better.
I love the 4th of July... Fireworks are great at a distance...I have always been that way ever since I as little (my aunt has pictures to prove that)
It's great seeing and hearing them in the early evening. We headed to bed about 11 pm and as we were lying in bed sleeping...at about 1230 am we hear a LOUD POP,POP POP and this continues for a long time...Fireworks being set off by some immature young adults who just moved into a rental down the street. my kids wake up from their sound sleep screaming... JOY, what WONDERFUL neighbors we have.
We ended up calling the city police and they come out and shine a light (rather impressive response time I might add for calling the non emergency line)KUDOS to RHPD...I feel safer knowing this.
Our wonderful a/c unit (window) began to blow hot air(like a heater) into my house.
It's been in the upper 80's low 90's.
Our sink is broken again and a bucket is being used to catch water. Dishes are still being done though as I find a way.
This is the 3rd time the sink had broken and I will if the Landlord doesn't fix it RIGHT call a plumber and take him to small claims court for all of the damage and or repairs we've had to do ourselves.
I'm beyond upset about it but I can laugh about the sink in a way... Popeye (the landlord) doesn't do plumbing... Or electricity. eventually it gets fixed. we will be moving before the lease ends if he doesn't bother to fix anything he said he would.
Next I have been in a horrific amount of pain for over a month... I couldn't seem to make myself an appointment at the doctor's because of red tape and other general BS that happens within their office. Happy to report I am going tomorrow morning as Andrew was able to muscle his way through all of that... I will be finding myself a new doctor although it's complicated and they need to have privileges at cmc-main (if we ever decide to have another baby). Word to the wise... Just make the appointment.. talking to what ever nurse does you NO good and in this office they love to play GOD.
Everyone else is doing great and we are planning another outing.... My sproutlets are doing awesome and we are shortly going to start potty training as soon as we can go buy a potty chair as he is AFRAID of the toilet(even with the seat we got him that fits inside of it...
It is what it is right now... and we are dealing with it.
Be blessed

Pink Shoe laces and Prayer
You might wonder ok what is the deal with Pink shoe laces.
Do you ever get to a place where you want to stop and think about someone, or something but need a reminder?
No this isn't about someone's Breast cancer or an awareness thing someone started.
I have been praying for a little girl named Victoria. She is 6 years old and has been battling a rare form of cancer since she was 3. I can't tell you how many rounds of Chemotherapy, radiation, stem cell transplant, and time spent in hospitals and doctors offices... but I can tell you where you CAN. Her parents set up a Caringbridge website.
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/victoriamartinsen
She has been on a lot of hearts in our community.
So Why did I put Pink shoe laces in my shoes. Pink happens to be Victoria's favorite color. I wanted to remind myself to think about her and her family every time I saw my shoes.
I HATE Cancer.
This disease has taken too many of close friends, relatives, and people I have known that I get sad.
Recently a friend of mine lost her husband to it and his Memorial (Homecoming celebration) was remarkably on Mother's Day.
I have another dear friend who is going through it and he is just finishing chemotherapy. I PRAY that there is NO more cancer in his Body... He has to have parts of his body removed because there were tumors there.
My heart broke in an amazing amount of pieces when my friend told me of this discovery.
NO one should have to go through this... BUT there are still things even medical science and all the technology we have can figure out or do.
Until then We will pray. Even with my Pink Shoe laces.
