conversations in the dark and wounds from the past

Something happened the other night in a conversation that happened. without question I will not reveal the nature but I recognized something we all do and that is what I will touch on.
Many times we identify a church by the people that go there. Good, BAD or otherwise. There are people we know that go to our church and know they have been for a long time. Their behavior is honestly a hugely horrible witness and in turn hurts themselves. MY thought at the time was don't judge a church like that...
Are we as Christians all perfect? NO! In fact we are in fact fallen and broken people who still do BAD things. The only thing that sets us apart ultimately from people who are not is The Cross and the resurrection. The Forgiveness of God is important. Does this justify anything anyone does? No. People who do bad things should be accountable for their behavior. Christians in their own communities should be more accountable to other believers.

Another thing I noticed as a whole out of that is that we let our experiences influence how we think. We could have one horrible experience and from then on we don't ever want to take a risk and do whatever we had the bad experience with.
For us it was Life Groups in general. For me it is saying my name at church or introducing myself. it becomes a point of anxiety for me.I hate that. At one point name tags at an event made me upset....
In another week I will be going to a life group meeting that I will be going to for the first time. This will be the true measure of how well this church is doing as well as taking care of folks. Yes, I know these folks were not involved in what happened with the lady who called/reported us falsely to dss BUT there should be something in place for accountability and safety.
This will also be the measure of whether or not Andrew will choose to get in a life group. Right now the answer is most definitely NO, although volunteering as a first touch (Usher) volunteer is an option he's looking at.
I will not push Andrew into anything because he is resistant. Just pray my experience is great and I'll re sell this idea later.

The good, the bad and allergies(the ugly)

Right now at my house there is a lot of coughing and snot. Allergies... The pollen around this area has gotten really bad...It is effected Jonathan, Andrew, Daniel and myself. Daniel seems to be the one taking the biggest hit with myself in second place.
Sunday(today) marks the end of the second week that he has been having issues with some sort of coughing thing). It seems we must like going to the doctor because Daniel has made his 3rd visit in 3 weeks. It has been 2 months since the last time he was sick but I really do not like it when anyone is sick. In my opinion sickness sucks.
If he gets any more colds I think I will demand he be seen by Jonathan's lung specialist. This is just too much.
The freaking doctor we saw today was all like Jonathan wasn't tested for cystic fibrosis. I told her that at the time that doctors were thinking of it he was gravely ill and on the list for being a candidate for ECMO. That is why they never did that and besides Jonathan seems to be doing well. But at the same time it freaked me out but I can almost laugh it off at least until I go see Jonathan's lung doctor.

Yesterday was the March of Dimes walk and we just went and handed in our money. Very frustrating when people say that they will support your cause but in the end not show up at all.
We went to a city even where they had a lot of big trucks, fire trucks, school bus etc. My favorite was when he got up into the fire truck but especially the neonatal ambulance. You see for the longest time Jonathan has been absolutely terrified of anything medical. He just wanted to see it. I was so proud and Andrew told him yet again that he is special enough to have had a ride in it when he was a tiny baby.

We were overbooked for the day but was able to come home and take a nap. Naps are GOOD.
Later we went to church and went to a concert that they put together to raise money for a scholarship fund for inner city young people. That was fun although I with these allergies feel horrible. I am always amazed where I am and what God is doing.
Anyways That's my story

I took a vacation from stressing

About other people. Not that I don't have little people I am responsible for or that I don't have friends I deeply care for.
I found myself in a unique situation which I won't go into details but I was able to "walk a mile" with someone and having been in a similar situation was able to speak into it. I don't think this person was in the position to receive it and immediately spring into action but at least information was shared.
I found myself plagued with the memories of the very thing by which I was able to empathize. That in turn manifested acid reflux or something like that and had me in a really horribly painful position.
SO I decided to Take a week off from actually talking to anyone on the internet.I took a week off of the parenting board I participate on (although I admit I lurked a few times)
I also took a week off from actually READING others blogs. I was stuck in a cycle where I would stumble onto others blogs and unfortunately they are suffering through tragic circumstances. My heart breaks every time I read one.
We had the week off from Jonathan's pre-school and we made sure that we did plenty. On Friday a dear friend of ours came to visit with his son who is 6 months younger than Jonathan.
There are times in which I totally am in love with my babies and I adore it when they are happy and smiling and giggling.
I so don't like it when they are whiny and throwing tantrums and won't get and stay in their bed. I love them without ever thinking of behavior and my love for them is irrevocable(sorry can't think of the word right now).
We are working on our marriage right now and the only thing I can say about marriage is that it takes both people to make it work equally. anything less creates big problems.
Everyone else can take a number because now that I've rested some. I see what really is important and what I don't necessarily need to stress about. my dear friends are a great thing to me in my life and you all capture my attention and heart every chance we talk.
That's what up with me.
Blessings

Daniel's 9 moth Stats

I know it's about a week early...

This is his 9 month stats from our pediatrician visit on 4/15/2009.
And this would probably be his resume if he had one...

He is a whopping
24 pounds 8oz... But feels heavier trust me...

He is: 27 1/4 inches long

And is right on track developmentally. He is getting better at sitting up, is "army" crawling. and is doing a whole slew of amazing things that his brother Jonathan did not do at this age.
He has 4 teeth (2 top and two bottom) and is working on another bottom one.
He does bite...and yes it does hurt.

He is currently healthy although allergies have all of our noses running.
He is quite the noise maker and will let us all know if he is hungry, bored etc.
He does get bored easy.
Favorite toy: anything that is crinkle-y and anything to chew on.
His favorite non toy: the phone... buttons (hoping I don't have techie kids)

He Loves: Bananas
He HATES: green beans (both my kids hate the green giant apparently at this age)
Jonathan LOVES veggies now.
He seeks being able to steal what ever mommy eats in the future (although he still struggles with moderate reflux- fixed by Enfamil AR and a more slow introduction to food. We were lucky to avoid medication with this kid.
Blessings.

What Easter is...
To me Easter is not just about the crucifixion... But the life, suffering, the death, burial and last but not least the Resurrection.

I also like this verse because we all have moments when we make the discovery. Some call it an AHA moment, but I call it beautiful.

Matt 28:5-6

5 But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
NKJV

Just a cool video I've seen everywhere...

Remember I will not be here next week as I will only be looking at email...
Be very blessed and I look forward to chatting with you again.
Blessings From the Hoover house.

Happy Passover to our Jewish, Messianic and Christ follower friends
Happy Easter to Everyone

To my dear friends

You mean everything to me and I love you.
You all do not make me sad at all.
Let me explain what the last entry meant. I have been having a lot of bad dreams lately and dealing with a ton of stress... I was coming upon a lot of blogs that were simply really really tragic. a lot of them had cancer and just died from it suddenly.
I have 3 friends (1 that is really close to my family and 2 that are friends that I have known for a while) all of them are dealing with some stage of cancer. one is in stage 4 and one is in stage 3. I don't know what stage the other one is since pediatric cancer is staged differently, but I do know they have been battling that demon for at least 3 years.
I was dealing with some family members that we just decided we don't want any more contact with them because of their unhealthy behavior..
Like I said I dealt with a friend who is being physically and mentally abused and mind you she just had her second baby recently. She played off the advice I gave her and all we can do is pray for her and her children at this point.
I love reading my friends blogs but my body began manifesting signs of stress. I need a break and possibly the week after Easter I will be MIA from the internet.
I love all of you and I will be back after a much needed break.
Blessings
Trina

Pardon the intteruption

Sorry for the interruption...
But I am going to take a break from reading some of ya'lls blogs for a while. It's getting to be quite more than I can deal with. Everyone I keep reading is having major life and death issues and there are things that after a while I can't imagine and I don't know what to pray anymore. You will have to forgive me at some point but I am having nightmares.
To Sarah: my heart goes out to you as anniversaries are so very hard. I can't imagine what you remember holding your little boy after he had passed. It's not your fault that he left this earth and only God knows why.
I know I beat myself up pretty good after each of my losses and after Jonathan was born with his issues, so I know where you are coming from.
What it comes down to is that there really isn't anything you did to cause your loss. You aren't the one to blame.

Something shook me up when a friend I have known for a long time recently emailed me and told me that she had been enduring an abusive marriage. told me to keep it a secret... OK she could end up either really hurt or dead... what secret is worth that? all I could tell her was to get the heck out of dodge, and to get the law involved and gave her a 800 number for a domestic violence hotline.
Other than that I will keep praying for those close to me. Fred is prayed for and victoria and her family are in my thoughts although I need to back off a wee bit. My heart breaks for them. May God have mercy on the man who stole their life savings they needed to pay for a 6 year old's cancer treatment.

I will keep reading my friend's blogs (that is if they keep writing ;) ) Just not ones like pray for Stellan etc. I can't take anymore heartbreak.

Finally scheduled Daniel's Dedication

At our Church on August 9th at 12:45 pm.
Forest Hill Church- South Park campus-Charlotte--- For more info on this church and directions please go to our Church link on this page.
It is a link on here -please check it out.
We would LOVE it if our dearest and closest friends came for this.

What dedication is. As Christians we believe it is our duty and privelege to raise our children in an environment that is loving and where they see our Christian faith being lived out in front of them.
We are by no means perfect nor is anyone else here on planet earth. We rely solely on help by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. The only perfect man walked the earth 2000 years ago and died on the Cross for our sins, was resurrected and is now seated at the Right hand of the Father.
We believe baptism should happen when Jonathan and Daniel come to faith in Jesus and make that decision for themselves. Baptism is a public profession and an act proclaiming their decision.

What we are going to do is dedicate ourselves as parents to raising our children so that they can easily make this decision for themselves later. We will also be renewing our marriage vows as part of the ceremony. so if you miss this, you miss our new beginning.

Blessings
